Hi,

How do I manage security in the home area of my SPS portal ? On all
sub-areas etc. I can use the "Manage Security" link in the actions
menu, however this menu item doesn't exist on the home page.

My problem revolves around the issues as follows. Say I want to setup
multiple site groups groupA, groupB, and groupC all of which have
rights to add links to lists, upload documents etc.

I can assign groupA to sub-areaA using Manage Security link in
sub-areaA and restrict the other 2 groups (B and C) from adding links
etc. using this method. I can do the same for groupB in sub-areaB and
groupC in sub-areaC etc.

However ALL THREE groups have permissions to add links, upload docs etc
to the home area - I can't find a way to restrict them since there is
no "Manage Security" link in the actions menu.

Any help would be gratefully received.

Many thanks,
Chris

Hi Ted,

No, I've not setup annonymous access, I don't want to do this as I want
certain groups to have certain permissions on the home, and other,
areas.

Can anyone explain how you setup which site groups are allowed access
on the home area ? On sub-areas it's easy with the "Manage Security"
link, but this is not present on the home page.

Many thanks,

Chris.

Going to the "Manage Users" page allows you to edit the users and change the group they belong to; however, there does not appear to be a way to change the home area security.

Just as in the above example you have a home area and three sub areas. Each sub-area has a group specific to that area. So user1 is only a member of group1 which only has access to sub-area1. So I edit sub-area1 and only allow group1 read, edit, and upload access to subarea1. I do this for all three sub-areas. When I logon as a user from group1 I can upload content to the home area.

Is there a way to remove this privilege? by editing the user, I take away thier privileges on the sub-area.
