wss2 with sp2 login problem |
|
|
I prepared a Win2k3 SP1 machine in the following order:
1. Installed IIS 6.0 + ASP.NET
2. Promoted to DC
3. Installed WSS2 with SP2.
In the address bar, I type:
http://machineName:80/
or
http://machineName:xxxxx/
I get a login pop-up. I type in:
netbiosName\administrator
password
This happens three times in a row. Finally, I get
Server Error in '/' Application.
Runtime Error
What am I doing wrong or missing in the procedure?
Thank you. |

Hi,
Your first problem is that the only supported install order is:
1. Promote to DC
2. Install IIS
3. Install WSS ....
This is because promoting a server to a DC changes a bunch of permissions in
IIS that causes access problems for the way SharePoint creates some
temporary files (unless that was fixed in WSS SP2).
A few more questions before we can guess what is wrong (apart from above);
1. Are you using WMSDE or SQL Server (if SQL Server, is it on another
server)
2. Is your WSS virtual server using NTLM or Kerberos

Ian

Dude:
This is possibly the most bogus of a lot of bogus stuff I have encountered
in 2+ years of 2003 Servering. Having said that, the SharePoint website does
offer a solution that is a little less drastic than the approach you all
took. Refer to the follwing:
