Error accessing drop down menus |
|
|
I am using Microsoft Small Business Server, Microsoft Office 2003 and Windows
XP on all my client computers.
I created a timesheet list that uses drop down menus to “look up”
information from other lists. I load this in Outlook 2003 by creating a new
folder in the mail section. Then setting the homepage of the folder to the
url of the employee's timesheet in Sharepoint.
Some computers can access it fine. Of these there are two desktops directly
connected to the server, one desktop remotely connected to the server (http
connection). On certain computers (including two laptops remotely accessing
the url via http or vpn, one desktop remotely connected via http and one
desktop directly connected to the server).
When a user tries to use a drop down there is no data in the list, it is
completely blank. Then, if the user clicks the “refresh data” option in the
sharepoint window an an error message pops up saying:
“The datasheet view is attempting to retrieve data from a different domain.
You will be redirected to an error page. Contact your system administrator
to resolve this error.”
When the user clicks “OK” the page changes to another sharepoint page titled
“Error” and has the following message:
“The list cannot be displayed in Datasheet view for one or more of the
following reasons: A datasheet component compatible with Windows Sharepoint
Services is not installed, your browser does not support ActiveX controls, or
support for ActiveX controls is disabled.”
If I then select ‘Home’ on the sharepoint menu, then select ‘Documents and
Lists’, then select the timesheet I was trying to use, the drop down lists
now become available.
Why does it take the refresh and re-opening the list for the drop down menu
data to appear? How can I fix this problem?
Thank you,
