I have a ADM File that is used in a few of our GPOs. It's the CConnect ADM
file for CConnect tool that comes with Server 2000.

When we open the group policy in the GPO Manager it won't display the
settings for the file.

I found a microsoft doc that should you how to write adm files, i took the
file that it showed you how to make and the GPO Manager wouldn't read that as
well.

The following is the contents of the adm file.

CLASS USER

CATEGORY "CConnect"
POLICY "Concurrent Connection Number"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"
PART "Concurrent Connection Number"
NUMERIC
MIN 1
DEFAULT 3
VALUENAME "CConnection"
END PART
END POLICY

POLICY "SQL Connection Information"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"
PART "SQL Server Name"
EDITTEXT
VALUENAME "SQLSERVER"
DEFAULT "Library1"
END PART

PART "SQL User Name"
EDITTEXT
VALUENAME "SQLUSER"
DEFAULT "CCLogin"
END PART

PART "SQL Password"
EDITTEXT
VALUENAME "SQLPASSWORD"
DEFAULT "CConnect"
END PART
END POLICY

POLICY "Track Last User"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"
VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEON NUMERIC 0
VALUENAME "TRACKUSER"
END POLICY

POLICY "Debug Errors"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"

POLICY "Remote Log Off"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"

END POLICY

POLICY "Force Log Off"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"
VALUEON NUMERIC 1

VALUENAME "FORCELOGOFF"
END POLICY

POLICY "Enable Event Logging"
KEYNAME "Software\Microsoft\Cconnect"
VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEON NUMERIC 0
VALUENAME "EVENT"
PART "Event Server"
EDITTEXT
VALUENAME "EVNTSERVER"
END PART
END POLICY

POLICY "Silent Errors"

VALUEON NUMERIC 1
VALUEON NUMERIC 0
VALUENAME "SILENTERR"
END POLICY

Does the group policy editor throw any errors when loading the adm file?

If there are no errors when loading the ADM into the gp editor, then my
guess is that you need to turn on the option to show preferences. (the
editor will only show items that go into the "policies" sections of the
registry. ms refers to this as fully managed settings. after loading the
adm, select view > filtering and uncheck the box at the bottom if my memory
serves me right for the gpm.)

Thank you neo, that did the trick.

The adm wasn't throwing any errors and i didn't know that the gpo editor
filtered the settings.

Most annoying but now i know and my problem is fixed..
