I have issue of RAW failing because it does not create a config package due
to install of Windows Server SP1.
This issue is detailed in MS KB897342.

The solution is to remove Windows Server SP1.
I had never run the Remote Access Wizard prior to installing SBS2003 SP1

My question to group is:
Since I am already on SBS 2003 SP1 will removing Windows Server SP1 require

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for posting to the SBS Newsgroup.
I am sorry for the delayed response due to weekend. Please understand that
the newsgroups are staffed weekdays by Microsoft Support professionals to
answer your systems and applications questions. Your understanding is
greatly appreciated!
I understand that the Remote Access Wizard does not create a Connection
Manager Configuration package. If I have misunderstood your issue, please
let me know.
Please take your time to read though all my information first and then
perform the steps:
1> I am sorry that from your description, I cannot have a clear idea what
exact SP1 you have installed on Server.
a. Windows Server 2003 SP1. OR
b. Windows Small Business Server 2003 SP1.
2> If you ONLY had Windows Server 2003 SP1 installed currently, please
continue installing rest SP1 patches. As we described in KB 897342, there
are many Known issues may occur if you ONLY install Windows Server 2003
SP1.
You do not need to remove Windows Server 2003 SP1, just follow the
instructions below to continue installing rest of the SP1 patches:
For detail instructions to install SBS 2003 SP1, please refer to the
following SBS 2003 SP1 download page.
[Note]: Please read it carefully and follow the instruction strictly to
complete the installation.

Thank you for the response-
I have SBS 2003 SP1 installed on my server, I installed SBS 2003 SP1
successfully in August 2005 with no problems.
As part of the install I recall a step was included where the server was
updated to Win Server 2003 Sp1
Therefore, it Win 3K SP1 is reflected in my installed apps.
The server has been running fine.
The Remote Access Wizard runs almost to the end then hangs-
The error message is exactly as the KB below details
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;897342
The portion of the rraslog.txt where error is idenitified is below:
Updating CMP template returned OK
Updating CMS template returned OK
Updating SED template returned OK
Creating proxy configuration file returned OK
*** Running IExpress to build the package returned ERROR 80004005
*** ERROR: Cannot delete temp directory CMP1FFA.tmp
Specifying error location (in CMAK) returned OK
*** CRRASCommit::CommitCMAK returned ERROR 80004005
*** CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80004005
The app event log error reads:
Application Hang Category 101 Event ID 1002
Hanging application sbsrras.exe ver 5.2.2651.0 hang module, hungapp, ver
0.0.0.0.0
Any direction would be appreciated

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for posting back!
I have read though the rraslog.txt file you sent to me, and I found the
same error information as you attached in our Newsgroup.
Updating CMP template returned OK
Updating CMS template returned OK
Updating SED template returned OK
Creating proxy configuration file returned OK
*** Running IExpress to build the package returned ERROR 80004005
*** ERROR: Cannot delete temp directory CMP1FFA.tmp
Specifying error location (in CMAK) returned OK
*** CRRASCommit::CommitCMAK returned ERROR 80004005
*** CRRASCommit::CommitEx returned ERROR 80004005
Based on my experience, this issue may occur if:
a. The Clientapps directory is moved to other location.
b. Applied Windows Server 2003 SP1 but SBS SP1.
As you have installed full SBS 2K3 SP1, let's check whether the clientapps
directory is pointing to an invalid location. I would like to know if you
moved the Clientapps directory to other location.
While we moving Clietnapps directory to other location, we need at last
change the following key to set the new path:
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\SmallBusinessServer\clientsetup"
Please refer to:
830254 How to move the client programs folder to another location in
Windows
http://support.microsoft.com/?id=830254
So, if you have moved the ClientApps, please double check the registry key
followed by the article Q830254 to make sure that ClientAppsRoot value has
the correct data.
Please take your time to perform the steps. If you have any updates, please
feel free to let me know. I am looking forward to hearing from you!

Brandy
I believe we are onto the issue
We did move the ClientApps folder from C:\ClientApps to
D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
We shared the folder D:\ClientApps (Not sub folder)
We changed ClientAppsRoot reg subkey to D:\ClientApps (Not sub folder)
We left a folder (not shared) in C:\ClientApps which has nothing in except
SBScert
The Permissions on the D:\ClientApps were not set to full control
Would you suggest?
1) Correct shared folder to D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
2) Correct permissions
3) Correct Reg Sub key to D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
4) delete C:\ClientApps
Reboot and try and run Wizard....
Let me know
Thanks

Thank you for the response-
I have SBS 2003 SP1 installed on my server, I installed SBS 2003 SP1

The server has been running fine.
The Remote Access Wizard runs almost to the end then hangs-

The portion of the rraslog.txt where error is idenitified is below:

I believe we are onto the issue
We did move the ClientApps folder from C:\ClientApps to
D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
We shared the folder D:\ClientApps (Not sub folder)
We changed ClientAppsRoot reg subkey to D:\ClientApps (Not sub folder)
We left a folder (not shared) in C:\ClientApps which has nothing in except
SBScert
The Permissions on the D:\ClientApps were not set to full control
Would you suggest?
1) Correct shared folder to D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
2) Correct permissions
3) Correct Reg Sub key to D:\ClientApps\ClientApps
4) delete C:\ClientApps
Reboot and try and run Wizard....
Let me know
Thanks
Kevin

I have done as suggested and issue persists.
Remote access wizard Hangs in same spot. (right at end)
a) I amended sharing and permissions for D:\ClientApps\ClientApps as per
step 3 & 4 of KB article
b) I amended reg key to D:\CientApps\ClientApps
c) I renamed C:\clientapps to C:\clientappsold I rebooted server and tested-
same result
Some other feedback:
My RWW and Outlook RPC over http work fine.
My certificate is correct and matches my A record.
I have only 1 NIC in server and have a Sonicwall Firewall I do not use ISA
or SQL but do have the Premium version of SBS 2003 SP1.
When running CEICW I get error when running wizard at "Setting up firewall",
not sure if this is because I choose not to use ISA or some parameter needs
to be tweaked?
It allows me to finish but I don't get to the end where password protocols
are set....
Do you have any other suggestion?
My guess is something was tweaked when we moved Clientapps from
C:\clientapps to the D:\Clientapps\Clientapps
Your input is appreciated

Hello Kevin,
Thank you for posting back!
I understand that there is only 1 NIC installed on the SBS 2K3 Server, and
you got another issue when you running CEICW. Please understand that we
need to troubleshoot issues one by one, in case they are related.
May I know whether you are running Standard or Premium SBS 2K3 Server? You
mentioned "I do not use ISA or SQL", I need to know whether ISA and SQL
have being installed on server.
Please do the following and provide me with the log files:
1. Download the Regmon and filemon application from following link:
<http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/filemon.shtml>
<http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/source/regmon.shtml>
2. Reproduce the issue, before you click the Finish button (the error
message prompted out), start the Filemon application.
3. Click the Finish button to repro the issue, and then stop the filemon
and email me the log.
4. Repeat step 2 and 3 with Regmon tool and email me with the log file.
Thanks a lot for your time and co-operation, and I am looking forward to
hearing from you!
