How to export a discussion list? |
|
|
Hello,
Most SharePoint lists offer the possibility to export to Excel, but the
discussion lists don't. Any suggestion on how to export them?
Thanks! |

There are many situations in which you may want to make information available
outside SharePoint. In my case users want to be able to have the discussion
threads available offline. I'll also have to share the conclusions of the
discussions with some people who are not part of the collaborative team. I
may also use this feature to archive discussions threads at the end of the
project, transform them into a FAQ list, etc.

I'm not aware of any options other than archiving the entire site or saving
the discussion list as a template with the data included. Neither of these
get you the content in a form that's really usable outside of SharePoint
though. I would imagine that someone who was a SQL expert might be able to
tell you how to extract the date directly from the content database .Maybe
they'll jump in at this point?
