I am running W2K3 Server standard edition with an Active Directory and LCS2005 and Office Sharepoint Portal Server 2003.

I just downloaded Communicator 2005 and it won't let me sign in. I've tried every combination of usernames and passwords I can think of but it keeps giving me errors like this:

Cannot sign in to the Communications Service because the server is temporarily unavailable. Please try again later. If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.

I also haven't noticed anything new on my sharepoint sites regarding the LCS features, but I'm guessing that I need to be logged in with communicator in order for the features to become available.

I'm logging in currently with communicator using my email address which is shown as the login name for the LCS account I'm using. It doesn't even give me an opportunity to use a password...the error message shows up immediately.

I have the Advanced Connection settings pointing to my server name "cs21". I've tried replacing that with the server's ip address. I'm using communicator on the same computer that all of this is running.

What do I have to do?

Thanks,
Jason

I just upgraded to Service Pack 1 for LCS 2005. That didn't seem to cure the problem. I also installed the Address Book Service and activated it.

I tried using automatic server settings and that didn't work either...it gives me another error yet it is similar.

Thanks,
Jason

I also should probably note that I've got the latest version of Windows Messenger (5.1) installed.

Also, I was browsing the MS newsgroup for LCS and found a post about seeing the version of LCS thats installed. It points you to a registry key and I looked at it before and after the SP1 upgrade and it remains the same. I looked in the LCS management snap-in and found that it says it is SP1...HOWEVER..

I went to the Help-->About option and it says this:
Live Communications Server 2005
Microsoft Corporation
Version: 2.0.5470.0 (RTM)

This doesn't seem right....what did I do wrong?

Thanks,
Jason
