I see that I am getting records in my DNS server that has the "Delete this
record when it becomes stale" option unchecked.
My Win2003 DHCP server is set to own the records accordingly:
Enable DNS dynamic updates according to the settings below:
- Always dynamically update DNS A and PTR records
- Discard A and PTR records when lease is deleted

Right now I go to the DHCP server and I see record, for example, "mylaptop"
IP=1.1.1.1 with a valid lease address in the DHCP server.
In the DNS server, I see that the respective record is registered, however
the check-mark box "delete this record when it becomes stale" remains
unchecked.
Is this how it is supposed to be ? Does the check-mark "Delete this
record..." is checked only upon a graceful IP release ? If so, I am toasted
because I have lots of laptops that will just get disconnected in a very
ungraceful way.

Please help !

Darn. At least if I connect my machine to an Ethernet cable, I see that the
record in DNS gets the "Delete this record when it becomes stale..." checked
immediately upon creation. From there even if the machine gets disconnected
ungracefully the record should scanveged OK later.

It seems it is something happening with laptops. I am wondering if there is
way that Access Points affect how the records are registered in DNS... it
shouldn't though.
