Content connector question |
|
|
Hi All,
We have a sharepoint portal server 2003 which hosts our corporate
intranet site. we would like to share some resources from this site with the
corporate website using the content connector. The issue is the corporate
website runs on a different server with win 2003 and CMSsp1a. we do not want
to have sharepoint installed on this machine.
Question:
Can we extract content from sharepoint server without installing share
point on the same server as MCMS.?
Is there a security risk of exposing the Sharepoint Server to the web
if we use the content conector.
Thanks in advance

The use of the document library placeholder requires that SPS and CMS are
installed on the same box.
If you wish to retrieve other content (such as list data etc) you don't
neccissarily need to use the Connector - there are other approaches such as
the SharePoint Web Services.
If you are however looking to include documents from SharePoint, you would
need to investigate other options such as the MINT placeholder control, at

Just to add: only during authoring SPS and MCMS need to be installed on the
same box.
If there is a staging and a production environment your production
environment could have MCMS installed without SPS.
Cheers,
Stefan
