SP1 --> Missing Heartbeats |
|
|
Hi,
I've recently installed SP1 on my MOM 2005, which runs on a Windows 2003
Server. After the upgrade, the agents stopped sending heartbeats.
The OnePoint database is installed on a seperate SQL 2000 machine.
I read here somewhere that if i install SP1 on the database server it would
solve it. When i try to install it, it says that i'm missing the windows
installer 3.1. But when i then try to install the installer package it tells
me that i already have it cause it's included in 2003 SP1.
So what should i do to solve it?
Best regards

Thanks for answering Daniel,
I forgot to mention it but i've already upgraded all the agents with SP1.
When i look in the administrator console it says 5.0.2911.0 as version number.
Also.. all the servers that i've added after the SP1 installation does not
have an entry under "Last Contacted", and all the other pre-SP1 installed
agents reports an old date/time which represents the time when i first
installed them.

Jonny,
When you tried to install SP1 on the database server, were you trying
to install the SP1 agent or the SP1 server software? You need to
upgrade the MOM database by running MOM setup. If that is failing
because of the Windows Installer issue, I'm stumped because I have not
seen that happen on a Windows 2003 SP1 server.

First i did the SP1 agent upgrade to all our machines from the administrator
console. Then i logged on to the database server and ran the MOM SP1 setup.
That's when i got the message:
"The setup requires windows installer 3.1 version, please refer to release
notes for more info"
When i press OK on that one, the next message appear:
"This software update doesn't need to be applied to this computer"
I might be missing something here but how should i update the database?

Jonny,
The only things I can think of are to try reapplying SP1 to the OS or
manually copying the files from the updated Windows Installer fix to the
database server. You should check the version of the Windows Installer files
and compare them to the versions in version 3.1x. You can search on this
newsgroup for what the correct version numbers should be. There seems to be
something wrong with the Windows Installer on that database server. Other
than that, I would suggest opening a case with PSS.
