Is there a way to report on Exchange 2003 users? I need reports for
security (who has access to who's mailboxes), and reports for top users, top
senind to domains etc.

Have you imported the reports that come with the Exchange management
pack? Those should provide at least some of what you are looking for.
If you need additional reports, you can create custom reports using
Visual Studio. See Chapter 8 of the Management Pack Developers Guide
(downloadable from the Product Documentation section of the MOM
website) for more details.

The metric reports are there, but there are some hotfixes for them since
some do not work. The security related stuff is not, and may never be (for
Exchange Reporting at least). The ammount of data you would need to collect
would cause a major impact on your monitoring system..

One word of caution about the reporting rules for Exchange...Make sure you
have a beefy MOM deployment, and if you are international or have a large
number of Exchange servers, then watch for management server backups late at
night (about 2:05 am - 2:45 am).

If you want to get excellent metrix for Exchange, then you would be better
off going with message stats from Quest. The metric gathering that MOM does
for Exchange usage is HUGE and has been a major PSS case generating issue.

Test it in a lab first, and then roll it out with caution. Monitor the
Sampled Numeric Data daily for Exchange and ensure it's not causing perf
storms. Also keep in mind for many of those reports to work you will need
MOM test mailboxes deployed to your exchange servers.

When you say MessageStats, I'm not sure if you're referring to the Quest
Exchange Reporting Management Pack, which is free and is essentially a
cut-down version of the full MessageStats product. I've implemented this
and it is a good addition to the base reports with the Exchange MP.

I am talking about the full version, but that free one for MOM is nice too
and I would definitely recommend getting that. If you like it, and can
afford the full version, then get 'er done. Quest knows Exchange metrics
and then some..

It's a shame it looks like that The Exchange Reporting Management Pack is
not free, I have downloaded it and it requires a license key.

That's correct. The full version of MessageStats is installed but not all
reports will be available when you get your Exchange Reporting Management
Pack license key. This should be free, but you'll need to contact Quest to
get it.
