Command line install of MOM failing when not on default sql |
|
|
Hi folks
Can anyone please let me know if you can specify the SQL port to be
used when installing MOM 2005 from the command line.
We have a server running 2 instances of MS SQL and the MOM database is
on the second instance. Therefore it is not using the default port of
1433. The install seems to check the existance of SQL on this port and
subsequently fails.
Any ideas greatly appreciated.
Regards

Hello,
Thank you for your posting!
On the MOM Database Server Instance page, type the name of the SQL Server
instance on which the MOM database is installed.
If the MOM database is installed on the default SQL Server instance, you
only need to type the computer name. If the MOM database is installed on a
non-default instance, type the computer name and the instance name,
<computer name>\<SQL Server instance name>.
MOM connects to the MOM database by using OLE DB. MOM uses SQL Server port
1433 by default. If you use a different SQL Server port, you must change the
SQL Server port value on this page.
If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

Thanks for the reply Daniel.
Could you please expand on a couple of points.
MOM is not running on the default SQL instance. Will SQL allow us to
change the port number to 1433 which is already in use by the default
instance.
This install is being done from the command line. I assume you use the
same format of server\instance in this case.
| Quote: | From your reply I also assume that there is no way of telling the MOM
install program which port to use to check for the existence of the |
database.
Cheers
Jeff
