Here is my situation. I've spent a day reading the web and I still
can't get this one figured out.

*SERVER: W2003 Server, AD, DC, NOT DNS server, LCS 2005 Standard Ed.
*CLIENT: W2K

Installation went perfect. I can see in the Event Logs that everything
is starting and there are no issues.

All my connections are via TCP. The port is open and listening. I can
ping and telnet. All machines can resolve the LCS server name. I
cannot use TLS because I do not have access to the DNS server and
cannot add the SRV information. From what I've read in the deployment
guide, this shouldn't be an issue.

1. Using ResKit's diagnostics console

Connection test using TCP: Success!
Client connection test: Success!

2. Trying to connect with Communicator 2005

I constantly get the "service is unavailable" error when I attempt to
connect. Usernames and domains and SIPs are all configured correctly
in AD and LCS. I cannot connect either on the workstation or on the
server itself!

3. Trying to connect with Windows Messenger 5.1

Making NO changes other than the client software, I can connect to LCS
using WM5.1 with no problems both on the server and on the workstation.
HOWEVER, the presence information is not updated and the users are all
always Offline.

I'm banging my head against the desk, at this point. Any suggestions?
Please?!

Thanks so much!
-Diana

LCS 2005 SP1 is required in order to support Communicator and Communicator
will not connect to LCS 2005 unless SP1 is installed.

Thanks, Oscar. I had downloaded the evaluation version from the page
titled "Live Communications Server 2005 with Service Pack 1 Trial
Versions", so I thought I had the whole thing. The "About" popup does
not mention SP1, however. I will download SP1 and see how it goes.

Hrm, the SP1 upgrade is not for eval packages. Any other way to
determine if I have the right install? It says I have Version
2.0.5470.0 (Eval).

Thanks,
Diana
