Description:

What's the best way to stop this type of error ?
I already disabled HP Management Pack Rules, but I keep
getting this. I don't care with HP Insight Management monitoring at
this point.

The HP Insight NIC Agent service depends on the SNMP Service service
which failed to start because of the following error:
The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or
because it has no enabled devices associated with it. Name: The service or
driver failed to start.
Severity: Service Unavailable
Resolution State: New
Domain: My
Computer: MYDC
Time of First Event: 11/2/2005 2:47:16 PM
Time of Last Event: 11/2/2005 2:47:16 PM
Alert latency: 1 min, 0 sec
Problem State: Investigate
Repeat Count: 0
Age:
Source: Service Control Manager
Alert Id: 0180f806-4006-4f08-a5fd-5a076ab4b172
Rule (enabled): Microsoft Windows Servers Base Operating
System\Windows 2000\Core System Components and Services\The service or
driver failed to start.

That's a rule from your windows base os..So find the rule, then go to
advanced..in the advanced criteria add this:

description does not contain (or does not match regular expression):
^.*(HP).*$

This may stop some, but maybe not all, since you are filtering on the
description. Using regular expressions you can create a nice string that
could do most of the work (in regards to blocking the alerts about hp
services).

Sorry for my poor explanation.
I realize that was coming from the OS base rules.

Thanks !
