i am currently testing vpn on our network and i got a little bug...
when using static adress pool option the vpn is working fine...
i can connect and ping everything on the network...but when i use
dhcp instead of static pool i can't ping anything... even if i got a
valid ip address from my dhcp server...(dhcp relaying ok)

we've tried vpn on win 2000 & win 2003 and got the same problem...

any ideas ?

Is the DHCP on the windows server or a hardware router/firewall?

dhcp server in on a novell box (working fine)...it's on the same subnet
(vpn server and dhcp server)

our win 2000 vpn server as one interface et public access is made via NAT
vpn is working fine when static pool is selected but when dhcp is selected
i can't ping anything..even if i got a good VALID ip address taken from my
dhcp

very strange...

Check the infrastructre first.palse of DHCP server and VPN server.
if it is in diferrent subnet you want be able to get DHCP Adress.
Specialy this will happne when you install VPn server in gateway level.

We have saw many issues like this one. Basically, a third party DHCP, sometimes, doesn't work well with Windows RRAS. Posting the results of both VPN server and client ipconfig /all may help us to figure it out.
