2 gateway's one server |
|
|
HI
How can I get 2003 server to except incoming connections from the net from 2
deferent gateways .
Some more info:
I have to line's coming in, both has a deferent wan address for example
mail.domain1.com and mail.domain2.com, the one come's in on one gateway and
the other on a deferent gateway the server has 2 nic's etch pointing to one
of the gateway's but the server only uses one gateway and then only excepts
connections coming in from that gateway. Is there a way to get the server to
listen on both ???
the network addresses are public ip's on e.g 196.x.x.x |

What do you want to achieve by using multiple gateways? Do both of the lines
lead to the internet?

Yes both line's go to the net and the reason for this is to shear the load
of client's connecting to the server. it connects to 2 deferent providers
and all a need is for the server to except connections inbound from both
lines as servers only except connections from the net if the connections is
incoming from it's default gateway.

Hi,
This would be best done on the router that has BGP (Border Gateway Protocol)
protocol installed. I am not aware of any way of doing this on Windows
server (at least out of the box) where you would have two lines to share a
load. What is possible is to have one primary line and that one goes down
Windows will switch to the other.
Check out the links in my previous post on the subject.
