Hi,

We are trying to put a temporary solution together for a busy period.
We would like to put a 16 Processor W2K3 Datacenter server in the same
active/passive cluster as an 8 Processor W2K3 Enterprise edition.

The reason why we aren't purchasing 2x 16 processor systems is that we
will be moving to 64bit early next year and don't want to waste money
on hardware that will become obsolete.

Does anyone know if the above configuration would work with a
datacenter and enterprise edition in the same cluster.

Thanks

Buzz

You cannot buy DataCenter in the resellers channel.

Datacenter Edition is not a product but a Program that is delivered by OEM's
(IBM, Unisys, HP, etc)

While I've never attempted this personally, I do NOT believe that you can do
this. You need to stay within the same product family. Additionally, this
is so mismatched that it makes little sense from a clustering hardware
perspective. I'm sure that this setup would not comply with the HCL,
particularly since there are different HCLs for Enterprise and for
Datacenter.

So, in short...no.
