Ok my environment
300 users
15 servers
2 dc's (dns wins)
1 front end (in DMZ) exchange 2003 and one back end exchange 2003

Looking to deploy LCS

Should i deploy a seperate server for LCS or is it feasible to run LCS on
the back end Exchange server?

I have ran LCS on an Exchange back-end without a hitch.

Ok.. here is a new question. With having exchange 2k already installed with
IM. Should I upgrade to 2003 structure but not move mailboxes or get the lcs
installed first?

Exchange 2003 does not have the RVP-based IM component. You can choose to
migrate your Exchange 2000 IM to LCS, and then upgrade to Exchange 2003.
That will probably make your users a bit happier...since they do not lose
their IM functionality.
