Someone has asked me if something is possible in LCS, and I'm not sure - so
I'd thought I'd find out if anyone on here knew! :p

Is there any way that you can restrict the client, so that an Instant
Message conversation can only be initiated by one of the parties involved?
For example, you have UserA and UserB, they can talk to each other, but ONLY
if UserA initiates the session. UserB cannot initiate a session.

Any Ideas?
Cheers,
Pete.

You can do this with a filter module that you develop with the LCS SDK. You
would need to filter out INVITEs from the users that you don't want to be
able to initiate sessions.

Also, if you only want this to apply to UserA and UserB, you could have
UserA add UserB to their block list. UserA would still be able to
initiate conversations, and UserB could reply, but UserB can't initiate
conversations and can't add UserA to their contact list.

Here in our office we used this feature to keep employees from sending
IM to the CEO. We added the domain (company.com) to the CEO's block
list in AD, then allowed certain CEO-specified users.

Just $0.02...
