MOM 2005 SP1 |
|
|
I am having an issue with MOM2005 service pack 1 and the agent
installs. I was able to upgrade fine, but in trying to add new agents
or update old ones, I get:
The MOM Server failed to perform specified operation on computer
"computerhere.thisdom.com".
Error Code: 5
Error Description: Access is denied.
The account I'm using is local admin on the box, etc. etc. |

I am having the same issue I have tried to install Windows Installer 3.10 on
the agent machines first as this is a requirement for the new agent. I
uninstalled the old agent by hand and tried to do push with mom and still no
luck.

Same Problem here,
You need the installer 3.10 for Push and manual install.
But we have here server without the installer and it is not allowed to
install (citrix is installed) so no new clients :(
From the release notes:
To Push Install Agents in MOM 2005 SP1, Windows Installer 3.1 or Later Is
Required on the Destination Computers
In MOM 2005 SP1, push installing agents requires Windows Installer 3.1 or
later on the computers that are the destination for the push install.
To determine which version of Windows Installer is installed on a
destination computer, do the following:
Log on to the destination computer.
Issue the following command from the command prompt: MSIEXEC.EXE /?
You can download the latest version of the Windows Installer from the
following locations:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=889482fc-5f56-4a38-b838-de776fd4138c&DisplayLang=en or from the Microsoft Windows Update Web site.

Re: MOM 2005 SP1 |

I need to ask a few questions so I am sure I understand what your scenario
is first...
Have you run the update on the Server machine?
If so, was it successful?
Did you use the setup.exe, rather than running the MSP directly?
Does the version of the Server machine show up in the Admin Console as
5.0.2911.0?
Is the setting for that server (or global settings if you're using that) for
"Reject New Manual Agents" unchecked? Have you restarted the MOM service on
that server once that setting was changed?
Have you restarted the MOM service on the agent once you ran the update?
Some of these are a "just in case" type check (restarting the Agent MOM
service, for example) to help me diagnose what state you're in.
Please let me know the answers to these questions and we can move on from
there.

RE: MOM 2005 SP1 |

try removing your Server cache,
stop MOM service on Management Server,
Goto Docs and Settings\Allusers\App Data\Microsoft\MOM\discovergroupname
delete the cache and then restart your MOM service, Does this clear up the
agent installs?

Hi,
I have the same problem;
I have applied on our MOM Server: MOM 2005 SP1 and W2k3SP1.
We don't have a reporting server. All components DCAM and SQL are on the same
server.
When I want to upgrade an agent to MOM 2005 SP1 on a W2k3 SP1 server, I get
the same error:
Error Code: -2147023584
Error Description: A specified logon session does not exist. It may already
have been terminated.
If you have solved the problem please let me know.
Thx! in Advance,
Kind Regards EdwinV
