Sharepoint logs analysis |
|
|
Hi!
I'm trying to understand how to get information from IIS logs for
sharepoint! I saw some articles and I tryied logparser. I guess they assume
I have a folder with all log files to analyse but in fact IIS is generating
one folder for each day. In each folder, I have a file called 00.log
I don't know what can I do with these folders! Should I transform them? Is
there any way to get some information the way they appear?
thanks in advance

Hola Miguel,
You can use the "Report Pack" for SharePoint, which can read all the
SharePoint and IIS log files and make reports for you. You can find an
article about it in
http://www.gavd.net/servers/sharepoint/sps_item.aspx?top=art&itm=122 (in
Spanish).

Hola Miguel,
If you have SQL, you can install the package in it without problems, also if
SQL is in another machine that SharePoint. You need Reporting Services, but
he is free if you have a license of SQL. With MSDE is not possible to use,
because you need the Reporting Services.

Thanks for your answer! I have SQLServer and SharePoint in different
machines...is it possible to use Report Pack this way or do I have to
install SQL Server (does it work with MSDE...I don't want to pay more) in
the SharePoint server?
thanks
Miguel
