Hi I've setup a DFS root and multiple root targets of about 16 servers of
different location across WAN. I've setup the root in the domain root
"company.rootdomain" and root targets in all DC servers having the same share
name eg "share".

During initial setup of the root targets on server within LAN, it performed
ok when I access the UNC path \\company.rootdomain\share. However as I
expanded the root target in large numbers, the unc path prompts me for login
credentials. I've set all DC server shares to have the same share permissions
and security permissions.

AM I missing anything that I should have done. The normal user login
credentials is not able to access the shares. Even when I point it to
\\server-a\share, where it was working well before I've setup the DFS root.
Seems like only Domain admin could access after using a domain admin id to
login when prompted

please advise

If clients can't access links or the shared folders (outside of DFS) it
suggests a permissions problem. Configure EVERYONE or Authenticated Users
with full control on the shares themselves, and set the correct permissions
on the folders themselves. As a test, give a temporary group full control
and drop a couple of test users into that group (and logoff/ logon)

Can you also explain this statement please?
