shows the folder and files after the delete the folders. (we have large
volumes like from C to Z and all are more then 40GB drives. and having more
folders(some thousands). its running on windows 2000 Server with NTFS
format. is it possible to format the drive (unrecoverable mode?) any tools
available for formating the Drive?

Thanks

After you format the drives -- run the utilities that I mentioned in my
previous post on the volumes. These utilities write different random data on
each pass to the hard drive and make information that was there before
practically unrecoverable...

There are few tools that you can use ...

First one comes with e.g. Windows 2003 and Windows XP. It is called "cipher"

Go to command prompt and enter

cipher /w:d:\

this one will removes data from available unused disk space on the entire d:
drive. If you want to remove data from available unused space on c: drive
enter

cipher /w:d:\

Here is another tool from SysInternals that will do the same...

SDelete
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/SDelete.html

Note: these tools will take some time to perform the removal of information
from the hard drives -- specially on large volumes...

There are several tools available free and not free. Take a look at East-Tec
Eraser and they over free trial downloads. --- Steve

cipher /w:<drive letter or dir path> works just fine.
I use to almost each day.... I do some backup to disks then move the backups
to an archive, after that process I use the cipher /w: to wipe the disks
clean... It works... no 3rd part tools needed... Why pay more when M$ has
given us all that we need.
