Agent Push Failing - Error code 1312 |
|
|
I am seeing an issue in MOM 2005 SP1 while trying to push agents out to
any of our servers (all servers, including the MOM server are Windows
2003 SP1). If I specify either my domain admin account (which I am
logged in under) or a newly created domain admin account as the Agent
Installation account, the push fails with the below error. I am using
Local System as the Agent Action Account. This happens when pushing to
servers on the same network (no firewalls in between, no Windows
Firewall enabled).
Task output:
The MOM Server failed to perform specified operation on computer
"destinationservername.domain.com".
Error Code: -2147023584
Error Description: A specified logon session does not exist. It may
already have been terminated.
Event Log Error:
Event Type: Error
Event Source: Microsoft Operations Manager
Event Category: MOM Server
Event ID: 21038
Date: 10/25/2005
Time: 5:45:19 PM
User: domain\MOMServiceActionAccount
Computer: MOMServer
Description:
The MOM Server was unable to establish a connection to the remote
computer destinationservername.domain.com with specified account :
domain\adminaccount. This will cause failure to configure Microsoft
Operations Manager agent.
Error Code: 1312
Error Description: A specified logon session does not exist. It may
already have been terminated.
Anyone have any ideas?? |

Hello,
Thank you for your posting!
Please check the MOM Action Account is added to the Domain Admins Group.
If you have any questions, please feel to let me know. I am glad to be of
assistance.

I am using Local System as the Agent Action Account, is that what you
are talking about? |

Have you verified that the accounts you are using to install have the
Logon locally right on the agents? The account that you use to install
the agent (whether the Management Server Action Account or an account
that you specify in the Installation Wizard) must have local
Administrator rights on the server where the agent is being installed.
This would include the right to logon locally.

Yes, the two accounts I have specified are both Domain Admins accounts
(and thus are in the local administrators group on each server), and
both can log on locally to each server I am trying to push to. I
verified the GPOs and they all allow Administrators the log on locally
right, and do not have the Deny log on locally right assigned to them. |

Anyone have any ideas? Trying to push the agents using the Agent
Account option isn't working either, even when that account is added to
domain admins, as it give me the dreaded RPC Server error for
everything (I'm not really wanting to do the installs this way anyway,
just thought I'd give it a shot).
It'd be great to figure out how to get MOM to push agents using any of
the Domain Admin accounts, so far none of them have worked... |

Thanks for replying David...
The Management Server Action Account is not a member of Domain Admins.
The intention is to specify a domain admin at the time of the push. If
I do add the MSA account to Domain Admins, it does not work, due to an
RPC error, but I have not had time to troubleshoot that aspect yet... |

Jerry,
Is the Management Server Action Account you specified a member of
Domain Admins? If it is, what happens if you do not specify an
installation account during an agent push installation, but instead let
the Management Server Action Account install the agent? Does this work?

FYI, I gave up on the push account, I assume there is a bug that'll get
fixed someday. I was eventually able to push using the MSA account... |
