I have a single forest with two parent-child domains. parent domain holds dns
server. I want to add another domain as separate domain tree. for example:
abc.com
a.abc.com
xyz.com

By running "configure Your server" wizard, I got DNS problem that showed
The following error occurred when DNS was queried for the service location
(SRV) resource record used to locate a domain controller for domain abc.com:
The error was: "DNS name does not exist."
(error code 0x0000232B RCODE_NAME_ERROR)

I'd like to know what reason to cause the issue and how to fix it.
Any helps would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Make sure the DC you are trying to promote, uses only the current AD DNS
server for the forrest root domain.
After the DC is promoted the setup depends on the OS of the DCs and
replication settings if Win2k3.
