3 Node and 4 Node Clustering |

I thought at one point Microsoft had a best practice for setting up > 2-node
clusters.
Can you run an application on a 3 or 4 node cluster where all nodes are
active?
So A/A/A or A/A/A/A or does one node in each configuration have to be passive?
Is this documented anywhere? |

You sure can, but I would not. The Passive node is critical for a truly
Highly Available environment.

Is there any documented best practice for this? I need some evidence to prove
my case against all active nodes.

You can, but not for all applications. For example, Exchange requires that
there be a passive node once you have three or more nodes.
You should, as Rod noted, never have all nodes active. The passive node is
vital for the support of failed nodes and to process the resources that were
on the failed node.
