Applying a Service pack to a cluster |
|
|
Hi all,
Some guidance on applying windows 2003 sp1 to a 2 node active/passive
cluster would be great.
I have been doing research and found various articles about issues etc , but
even the sp1 readme's etc dont say "how to".
The Procedure I planned to follow was
1) upgrade the passive node to windows 2003 sp1
2) Fail over the cluster - Test etc
3) when happy _
4) Upgrade the old active/primary node and fail back.
This server is a windows 2003 active /passive node cluster on hp hardware
attached to an eva 5000 SAN running exchange 2003 .
Cheeers for any feedback

Steve
It is a little more involved for an Exchange cluster.

Good luck.

Thanks for the reply, I relise that exchnage is different, but I was more
concerned about the sp1 upgrade of the OS and the coorect procedure for that
portion.

Make sure your hardware, firmware, bios, and drivers all support SP1. Dell
requires Open Manager 4.4 or better. Others require driver update BEFORE you
apply SP1. Just something to think about!
Cheers,
