ipsec |

I am studying IPSEC as part of Microsoft course 2277 on Windows 2003 and I
have the following question:
I have two 2003 servers networked together, each with a shared folder, and
one of the practices is to implement ipsec between the two and test
connectivity by showing that the share on the other server can be accessed or
not. With no ipsec in place, both servers can see each others share, as
expected. When "Secure server (require security)" is assigned on one server,
the other server cannot see its share, as expected. However, when "Secure
server (require security)" is the nassigned on the other server, they still
cannot see each other's share. My understanding is that if the same security
is applied at both ends, then communication can occur.
Am I understanding it incorrectly? Can someone suggest why it diesn't work?
Regards,
Phil. |

Hi Phil,
Are these two computers members of same domain?
If not what was authentication that you set for IPSec?
Try setting Respond only on server A and Require Security on server B. Now
try to access the share from server A to server B.
