Have recently upgraded our NT domain to a Win 2003 Server /AD domain with AD
integrated DNS (on 3 DC's). At the time of the upgrade I didn't implement
reverse lookup zones and am now debating whether to create one or not.

Other than getting error messages when using nslookup, does having no
reverse lookup zone affect the AD environment in any other way???

Are there any disadvantages in creating reverse zones???

Want to get as much info as possible before creating one. Our AD seems to be
working fine without it so don't want to rock the boat unnecessarily.

Thanks

There is no real need for a reverse lookup zone internally except that it can
be quite handy when troubleshooting devices on the network. If you can find
the name of a device from the IP you are likely to be able to indentify the
physical device quicker.

The only drawback is the space and minor amount of cycles required to manage
the zone (by the computer system).
