Folks, I have (2) Exchange Mailbox servers that will be clustered. I have
only one (1) FiberNIC and (1) CopperNIC per server (+onboard NIC that will
be used for hearbeat), therefore I don't think I can team them.

In the event that that I don't team those NIC's, in the event of a single
NIC failure in one of those servers, what's the expected behavior ? Does the
other node takes over in that case ? Active/Passive configuration.

What would be the answer if I have OWA 2003 NLB servers ? Basically I have
only one FiberNIC per server and I will do the NLB, but I won't be able to
team the NICs' due to fiber cabling constraints.
Please advise.

You can team, but just make sure its the public network and not the private
network.

If you only have one public Nic (no teaming) and it fails, the clients will
not have a cluster for a little bit and the cluster will failover to the
other node and service clients again.

Now if you use NLB for the front end servers running OWA, a NIC failure will
cause a temporary outage for some clients, then a failover will occur.

So in either case, things will break, but failover will fix that.

Cheers,

Rod
