Hi All,

I have set up an NLB cluster comprising of 2 nodes for IIS 6. When a
single node fails and does not return to the cluster the other node is
successfully handling on the incoming requests.

However, when the node fails and leaves the cluster and then restarts
and returns to the cluster the cluster is no longer accessible through
a browser unless I restart all the nodes. However, I can ping the
cluster.

I have tried changing the default status of the node to Stopped and
susspended with no improvement.

Can anyone provide me with guidelines for setting up the cluster so a
restart of one node does not cause the cluster to fail as I require the
cluster to handle restarts due to patches etc.

The cluster has the followig settings:

Nodes are set up in Multicast mode
Port rules are for TCP only on port 80
The filtering mode is set to Multiple Host with no affinity

An update on this:

The cluster can be accessed after the node restart but it takes
approximately 7 mins after the restart before it can be accessed
through the browser. During this 7 minutes the browser hangs when
trying to retrieve the url.

Are you using IPsec on the machine by chance?

Cheers,

Rod
