Remote site not refreshing local DNS - but IS receiving upda |
|
|
I have one domain that includes a home office and 3 remote sites
connected by WAN (frame).
Site A - MAIN
Site B - Remote 1
Site C - Remote 2
Site D - Remote 3
If I'm at site A and try to resolve the name of a workstation at site
A,C or D - it wokrs.
If I'm at site A and try to resolve the name of a workstation at site
B - it fails.
If I'm at site B and try to resolve the name of a workstation at site
A,B,C or D - it works.
If I'm at site C or D and try to resolve the name of a workstation at
site A,B,C or D - it works.
I've never seen one way replication. It seems to me that I've got:
A => B - works
A <= B - not so good
any ideas what to look for/at? I'm new to enterprise leve admin'ing
so don't use any big words with me. <G>

It's Active Directory
BTW: all AD changes (password, new objects, etc) are propagated
properly in all directions to all sites.

start w/ event viewer after you turn on logging..
other things to try:
1.if you are on the DC at site A, can you resolve site B hosts from there?
2.also make sure your dns clients, are pointing to their local dns servers
- you have probably already done this i'm assuming.
3. from the command line: ipconfig /flushdns, then try to resolve
4. in site A's dns console, are site B's hosts in there?
5. are you trying forward or reverse lookups? or both?
