Help I cant Load or Uninstall Software |

Hi
I have just got another problem with another SBS2000 server, for some
reason, i stop any services or uninstall any software or install any software
on the Server, it just hangs, the services do not stop, they come up with
stopping in status , and if i reboot the server, they all come back up, my
problem is what is stopping me unstall and install any software, we had
Sophos anti virus software , which got uninstalled by its self, and now i
can't install it again.
Has anyone come across this problem ( is this a virus )?
Help what do i do and where do i start?

I don't have a good idea what would cause this, but you would start at the
event logs. Hopefully the services that stick in a "stopping" state might
log an error. Another idea would be to set the misbehaving services to
Manual and reboot. See if the server behaves better without them, which if
it does would give you an indication where to start troubleshooting. If not
starting a particular service makes the problem better, try starting the
service manually and see if things then start going bad. Typically in a
situation like this, you'd look to 3rd party (non-Microsoft) services first,
since if this were MS-related someone else in the group would probably have
seen it.
It's not customary for applications to uninstall themselves, so Sophos
support (web site or other) might be a good place to start with your
troubleshooting. I'd run one or two of the online virus scanners to see if
anything turns up - most of the AV vendors provide these from their web
sites.

software.
I did run the Anti-virus software in Safe Mode and it did not pick up any
Virus.
Lost what next Guys pls help

Do you have APC Powerchute software installed? There are some postings that
the problem with their software may also cause problems with stopping and
restarting services. See:

i have not been to the site yet, but as soon as i have been there, will
unistall APC software if they have any, how did you unstall, it as i could
not unstall anything

I have rebooted in safe mode, then uninstalled OK.
saying that, I have tried to uninstall some otherthings before and also
could not uninstall. but before never tried APC.
