Please help, development trouble! |

We are trying to start developing a site with Commerce Server 2002 Trial
Edition and Visual C#.net. We installed CS2002 on a dev server and we would
like to develop on two different computer. Can someone give me instructions
or advice on how to do this. I have looked everywhere but can not find
anything! I know that in ASP.Net you are suppose to get a option to develop
a CS project but I don't know how to get this. Oh, Visual C#.Net is not
installed on the server just the programmer's computers. Any thing will
help, thanks. |

You will need to have VS.NET 2003 installed on your development server prior
to installing CS2002. During the installation of CS2002, it will find your
installation of VS.NET and install the CS2002 development bits. You can then
develop and test your CS2002 site using ASP.NET on this development server.
You will need to copy the site code, Profiles, Catalogs, etc. from your
development server to your production server manually.
I'd recommend using one of the starter sites as a starting point in your
development process. The sample code should get you going.

We just have Visual C#.Net (standard) installed, is that sufficient or do we
need the full blown vs.net to be installed? thanks again

You know, that's a good question. I've never installed just one of the
developer "products" before as I've always used Visual Studio.NET. Even if
the CS2002 doesn't add the development bits to C#.NET standard, you can
still unpack a site using the Commerce Server Manager and then create a web
project in that folder.
