I'm using AD for DNS server sync, it takes up to about a half hour for
entries I make in Boston to appear in NY. I'm wondering if there is a way
to force an immediate update rather than waiting. Thanks!

ADUC > Sites > Site_name > Servers > Server_name > NTDS Settings
Highlight target server, right mouse click and choose Replicate now.

If the destination server is in a different AD site, an information dialog
will appear (about AD not able to replicate now). Check Event Viewer to
verify status.

In Win 2000, intrasite AD replication takes ~ 15 minutes whereas it is 15
seconds for Win Server 2003 (in W2k3 forest functional level).

The command line tool "repadmin" and "replmon" from Support Tools may be
worth looking at.

Hope this helps.

This is what occurs, it says I need to wait for the normal AD replication to
occur.

Interesting, I don't think we're ready to go that route yet, but good to
know.

This wait is not actually dependent on the full duration you have configured
between the AD sites (default is 60 min if recall correctly). Rather, the KCC
will be invoked to start the process at the next available cycle.

As mentioned, consider using the "repadmin" command.
