Windows 2003 Server MACVOL disconnect error |
|
|
hi,
We have a Windows 2003 Server with a MACVOL configured to store files for 8
Panther clients. The clients have no problem connecting to the share and
working 99.9% of the time, but the MAC clients randomly and suddenly
"disconnect" from the share. This is more annoying than anything else
because data is typically not lost when the disconnect occurs, and they are
able to reconect immediately. The Windows server throws the following error
each time a disconnect occurs: Event ID: 12061 The file server is also a
domain controller, and we have already disabled session timeouts on the
local security policy of the default domain controller policy. Any ideas?
Thanks.
Session from user "username" was timed out and disconnected by the server.
The IP address of the Macintosh workstation is in the data. |

Josh,
Try this:
1. Loginto Macintosh machine goto "System Preferences" --> under "Hardware" title
---> openup the "Engery Saver"
Slect "sleep" tab
a) Set the computer to sleep when it is inactive for: to---> "NEVER"
b) Set the display to sleep when the computer is inactive for: to ---> "NEVER"
c) Uncheck --> "Put the display to sleep when the computer is inactive for:"
d) Uncheck --> "Put the hard disk(s) to sleep when possible"
Select "Options" tab
Under Wake Options,
a) Uncheck "Allow power button to sleep the computer"
HTH,
Gary

Gary,
Sorry, I forgot to mention we have adjusted power mgmt settings as well
already to no avail.
Someone else mentioned switching from AFP to SMB. Do you have any details
on this process?
Does it involve uninstalling svcs for MAC?
Thanks,
JL
