Re: File Shares and Disk Dependency |

There is no hard rule to enforce that there should be a dependancy
relationship between the file share and the hard disk on which the actual
file shares reside. But we know that if the disk is not online, the file
share is not going to work (IsAlive would fail). If the disk is a shared
disk on a SAN, you have to make sure that the file share and the disk are in
the same group, and it is optional (I would recommend) for the FileShare to
have a dependancy on the disk.

application on my cluster. I'm confused by some of the output. In
particular, the File Disk Dependency section is confusing to me. For
every
file share that I have, there is a line in the configuration analysis
report
that says the file share has a dependency on a disk followed by a line
that
says that same file share does not have a dependency on a disk. Is this
normal or is there something wrong with the way I've set my cusluter up?
The
Level column lists this as a warning and not an error. I don't know if I
should get excited about it or not.
