Significant being, of course, a subjective word. There will always be a
reduction in total traffic permitted when using a single NIC for both roles,
as some "heartbeat" traffic will displace "public" traffic at peak volumes.
What you need to weigh are the scalability concerns and amount of time you
expect your implementation to be "maxed out", network-wise, vs. the
additional cost (?) and complexity (not much more complex) of a multi-homed
implementation.

| Quote: | I setup NLB using "Network Load Balancing Manager" on my two OWA boxes.
Both nodes involved have two NIC's (one could be used for private, hearbeat
communication).
However I found the single adapter configuration to be pretty simple. Then
I am using only one adapter per server.
Question is this:
What's the implication of using the single NIC scenario for NLB ? I am
wondering whether there is any significant performance disadvantage ?
