Hello,

Logged into w2k3 dc as the administrator.

Created a domain-based dfs root \\domain.com\ib
Shared folders:
D:\ib\profile
D:\ib\users

When I tried to create a link to the root, I received an error msg
"cannot create link, profile folder not empty"

I moved the profile items to a temporary folder and then was able to create
the dfs link to the profile successfully while the folder was empty. Ok fine.

Problem is when I went back to move the temp folder items back into the
profile folder I receive error msg " D:\ib\profile is not accessible, the
network location cannot be reached" when I standing right at the dc.

I can't understand why I can't access the folder when I'm standing or logged
into the dc as the administrator.

Before I created the root and links, I could access the shared profile and
users folder just fine, thats how the users profile folder can populated in
the first place.

Spent a month and then some doing my homework on setting up a w2k3 domain.
check out www.microsoft.com/fr and any related links in reference to dfs/fr.

Is there something I'm missing? How do I properly setup the dfs link so that
I can access it after replication has begun.

Replication will be from dc1 to dc2
Root=D:\ib
Link1=D:\ib\profile
Link2=D:\ib\users

Any help is appreciated,

Thank You

What do you mean by creating a link to the root? I don't understand. Can
you elaborate please?

Your links should point to actual shared folders. You don't want to do
anything with the file structure that is created when you create the root.
