Hi,
I am trying to install the LCS2005 SE on the clients server. everything
seems to go though smoothly, Forest,Schema, and Domain are prepared and MSDE
is installed. the installation goes all the way and at the end gives this
error message which i copied/pasted from event log:
--------------------------
EVENT ID: 10005
Source: MsiInstaller
Product: Microsoft Office Live Communications Server 2005 -- Error 27557.
Error '0xc3ec7d0a' setting WMI instance 'MSFT_SIPApplicationSetting' in
namespace 'ROOT\CIMV2' during action 'AddAppSettingInstance'.

For more information, see Help and Support Center at

------------------------------------------------

I have already tried the KB for checking the Program Files directory
permission, but everything was okay in there. This is being installed on
Windows 2003 Enterprise Edition, which is also AD in the domain. Thank you
for your help

Thanks,

Michael

Hi Michael,

This problem is normally associated with permissions. I see you checked the Program Files
folder and assume that you set that for Read for 'Authenticated Users' You may want to be
sure that is the right folder you are installing it into. The other option is to reset the default
settings on the server and then try again. The reason for that is that some admins will change
the default settings, such as Everyone on the C drive, and this causes problems like the one
you are experiencing. Resetting them to the default setting will not cause any problems on the
network.

Type "secedit /configure /cfg %windir%\repair\secsetup.inf /db
secsetup.sdb /verbose" (without the quotation marks), and then press
ENTER. You receive a "Task is completed" message, and a warning message
that something could not be done. You can safely ignore this message.
For more information about this message, view the
%windir%\Security\Logs\Scesrv.log file.

HTH,
Gary
