Recovering deleted files |
|
|
Over the weekend my boss accidently deleted a folder from the network. The
files aren't necessary for us to opperate (thank God!) but he would like to
recover them. I should have them all on tape but was wondering if there is
a faster way to recover? Guess I'm looking for a "Recycle Bin" of sorts on
the server.

Ascnet,
Is this SBS2003? If yes and you have set up Shadow Copies just restore
them from the there.

I think Bart PE will allow the restore of those files, but you will have to
boot server from CD rom in order to use it.

Got backups?
There's no network "recycle bin" although as Franz mentioned volume shadow
services may be able to help.
If this is a constant issue on your network, you might want to look into
something like www.undelete.com or similar.

'Previous versions' aka Shadow Copies are configured by default, and are
there for this very purpose. If you search for either of those terms in the
SBS on-line help, you should get all the information you need.
