Hi there,

My company is about to deploy a new CMS 2002 Sp1 based web site in our
infrastructure. We already host some CMS sites in that same
infrastructure (2NLB 2GbRAM 2XEON2.8Ghz Authoring machines + 2NLB
Front-End machines + SQL Cluster - all off them are 2GbRAM
2XEON2.8Ghz)
The site has a very complex channel tree structure with many channels
(in this entry cenario, let's say about 6400 channels).
Regarding the information available about performance and Container
Hierarchy, the web site is well structured because it will not have
many (more then the so called 300 limit) postings/channels under each
channel.
This new web site will potentially have more postings and channels
then all the other web sites hosted in our CMS infrastructure!
My concern is about the total number of objects in the CMS database
(regarding all sites) and cache problems....is there a hard limit for
CMS objects in a CMS data base?
How can i measure the number of objects already hosted today?
Can anyone give me some guidance here?
thanks in advance

Hi André,

no there is no such hard limit.
The following article contains a query to check for the cachable objects in
MCMS.
I think this is what you are looking for:

Cheers,
Stefan.

Hi,

Why don't you run some tests.

Write a script that will generate thousands and thousands of
channels/postings nested

then write a stress test tool and see how your IIS & SQL Box performs.

Regards
