HIS2004 install gets "Failed to load resource dll: SetupUI.d |
|
|
Hello,
I am not quite sure as to how I broke it.
I started with a fresh w2k3 server and installed HIS2000SP1 on it.
Server is at Microsoft Windows Version 5.2 (Build
3790.srv03_rtm.030324-2048)
I uninstalled HIS2001SP1 and installing HIS2004 retail got the above error
after starting the Configuration Wizard.
I still can install / uninstall HIS2001, but no HIS2004 install or update.
I did this to 2 servers, so I must have done the same dumb thing twice.
KB articles with similar errors said to re-install/uninstall the previous
product.
This has not worked here.
Could there be some magic in the registry to fix this?
I do not want to rebuild the other servers, as they would have to be shipped
back here to do this.
Any input on this is appreciated.
Thanks, Eggert Johnson |

Eggert,
Probably HIS2000 uninstall is removing something that HIS2004 just expects to
be there.
The only similar type issue I recall with Windows 2003 was the NLS stuff
getting uninstalled by SNA4. Maybe HIS2000 does something similar. The key
there was
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage
Your best bet is to trace the install with something like filemon and regmon
(www.sysinternals.com) to see what is being looked for that isn't there.
An alternate product to do this, that I really like and highly recommend, is
TracePlus from www.sstinc.com. That one costs money though - but it's an
essential part of my debugging tool-kit.

Are you still having problems with the installation? if so please give me
some more details of where you are at, in the process. You can reopen the
issue when are ready to work on it, I will suggest looking at the
install.log file that gets created to see where the failure is occurring.
Thank you,

Thanks, Imelda, for your kind offer.
I do need help and have looked at this.
I have 2 W2k3 test servers that are stuck in the same spot.
For a reality check, I just took a fresh Win XP SP1 PC, installed HIS2000,
then the update to HIS2000 SP1, and the setup for HIS2004 worked. The
failure occurs before the first GUI window - Plan / Install / Reference -
comes up.
So there is no log, because I have not started an install yet.
The HIS2004 Installation Wizard seems to be missing something and can not
initialize.
Any help is greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Eggert Johnson

Re: HIS2004 install gets "Failed to load resource dll: Setup |

OK, it was my fault.
Now that I have a working install on the XP PC, I found the missing link.
SetupUI.dll is new for HIS2004 and located in the folder "1033".
So far I have associated "1033" with MS office and therefore did not include
it in my installation package.
Bad decision...
Thank you for your kind help.
