I have a question. We are currently using a HIS 2000 server in our
enviroment as a SNA gateway. We would like to activate the SNA print
service to allow the server to become a print server for network attached
printers. Currently we have print sessions defined to client PC's running
Attachmate. The problem that I am having is that we are using %% in our
data stream to indicate printer control codes. In Attachmate there is an
option to allow hex pass through with this %%. However I am not sure how to
define this for HIS to process. I am assuming it will require a PDT file
but I cannot figure out how to specify the %%. Does any one have any ideas?

Do all reports need this capability. We do an awful lot of printing and just
use the Generic Text driver for most jobs. The only hex transparency that I
needed to use was for some multitractor printers and I used and external
ethernet interface that supported the transparency pass thru.

Unfortunatly yes most of our reports need this ability. We are using these
codes to format the output on the page. What method did you use to get
your transparency to work?

Transparency is only supported when using a transparency bit. The correct
format would be something similar to this:
35021b45
Where 35 is the transparency bit, 02 is the length, and 1b45 is the
transparent data (in this case a PCL reset for the printer).

This is documented here:
http://www.microsoft.com/resources/documentation/host/2000/all/reskit/en-us/part3/hisrkc19.mspx

This is also documented in numerous IBM manuals discussing SCS codes.
