Site search always provides zero results. Any advice?

Thanks

1. Wait 24 hours (overnight is usually enough) since setting it off.

2. Make sure MSSEarch is running

3. Make sure SP Timer Service is running (probably not that though)

4. Have you SQL Server 2K ? (No search with (W) MSDE)

5. Have you specified Full-Text Search in SQL Server 2K

6. Are you searching file types that are either Office or things you have
created an IFilter for.

That explains it: We run MSDE not SQL Server 2000. It
seems a little frustrating that such intentional
disfunctionality is not clearly disclosed but one has to
stab around. Same experience with the "no datasheet view
for office standard users" btw.

Thanks however for your help

Both (i.e. your datasheet one too) are items in the WSS FAQ.

(Although it took quite a while for me to become aware of the datasheet view
restriction as I was using Office 2003 Pro all the time)

Sometimes a quick search in the WSS FAQ when you have a problem is useful.
"Search" probably throws up the need for SQL Server 2K for instance.
(crosses fingers as too lazy to test).
