We have a client who wants to be able to have the ability to send and receive
"team" emails in WSS and reply. The idea is replace a team distribution list
and make key email traffic visible in a collaborative sense. I would guess
that a link to an Exchange Server would be logical. We remembered seeing a
web part like this on MSD2D but it appears that CorasWorks bought the company
and is selling the web part for $3000 per server.

Is there another, less expensive solution available or that can be assembled
??

Thanks,

Scott

Scott, maybe an email enabled document library is suitable for this?

Hi,
You can create a public folder and add it's email address to the DL. Then
you can use Outlook Web Access to render the messages in a Page Viewer Web
Part.

Or use the Outlook ActiveX control in a Content Editor web part as per this
demo
http://www.wssdemo.com/Pages/OutlookDemo.aspx?menu=Demo's
To view the messages.

Yet another option is to have an inbox rule that saves the messages as HTML
to a document library.
Sample code to create an inbox rule is here
