Hello,
We are moving from the old and ancient SNA to HIS 2004, we need to do this
on several hundred computers throughout the organization, is there any type
of custom installation wizard or package program we can use to streamline the
installs? It'll take forever to manually go through all the steps. Thanks!!

Both the HIS 2004 Server and the HIS 2004 client have a way to do an
unattended install. This is documented in the installationguide.htm which is
on the HIS 2004 CD.

One thing I should point out is that in HIS 2004 we have seperated the
configuration of the product from the setup of the product. You will see
that when you install you have to run the configuration wizard after you
setup the product. Both the setup of the product and the configuration
wizard can be automated for unattended use on machines and both are
documented in that installation guide.

One nice feature of HIS 2004 is that on the summary screen of the
configuration wizard you can save your chosen settings to an XML file. This
XML file can then be used for unattended installs as it contains all of the
settings from that machine. In fact, you can use that same XML file for both
the setup step and the config wizard step. So... what I would recommend is
that you install one client with the settings that you want, make sure it is
working, and then go back into the configuration wizard and save the XML
file with those settings. You can then use that file to setup unattended
installs on other client machines. The only thing you need to watch out for
is that if you are running the HIS 2004 client as a service, you will have
to update the XML file with correct credentials for the service.

HTH,

Are you trying to consolidate the configurations of multiple SNA servers to a
single HIS server or are you doing one to one upgrade?
