Restore Question |
|
|
Hi Guys,
Not sure if this has been asked before, but I thought it might be
better to clarify it.
If you were to restore an Portal Server, would you install custom/3rd
party WebParts before a Restore(SPSBackup) (i.e. just after the SPS
installation) or after a restore.
I suspect that WebPart by default get installed against a virtual
server hence right after a SharePoint Portal Server Installation, with
no portal created; installing custom/3rd party WebParts will have no
effect since they will not be installed againt the Virtual Server the
Restore will create.
What are your thoughts?

Preferably install the webparts after the portal is created so that pages
which use them wire up properly. The Resource Kit has a tool called
SharePoint Configuration Analyzer which identifies disconnected webparts,
it's pretty nifty.
Take care,
Eli.
