I want to try something like this. In our office people use Outlook for
e-mail exchange and they have lot of discussion in those e-mails. They want
to post them to the portal.
I wanted to try this solution. I will ask the users to cc each discussion to
a public folder. I will pick those mails from public folder and post them
into discussion board.
Before I try this Is this a feasible solution. I am not able to
programmatically access discussion board. (May be due to the reason I am new
to sharepoint portal development). Can any expert assure me it is possible
to do this.

I am not sure this senario can meet ur requirement.

1. Create a discussion board on wss site
2. Request all dicusssion memebers subscribes the alerts

so when any change on the discussion board, they will receive emails from
the portal.

Thanks for the reply ted. What my users want is using outlook as client for
posting messages to the discussion board. They will look into the discussion
board to view the discussion. But they do not want to post from there.
