SharePoint Server woes - Please help! |
|
|
Just got SharePoint Server 2.0 reinstalled from an accidentle deletion of the
Config database. Recreated the Config database "SharePoint" and pointed it
to the existing Content database "STS_CSTORESERVER_1". I now get the
following error from my client browers:
Error
Cannot complete this action.
Please try again.
Troubleshoot issues with Windows SharePoint Services.
From the Server's App log, the follow event keeps showing up:
#50070: Unable to connect to the database SharePoint on CSTORESERVER. Check
the database connection information and make sure that the database server is
running. Event ID 1000.
Can anyone help me fix this PLEASE????
Thank you in advance |

If the config DB was deleted, then you need to do the following:
1. Reinstall the binaries
2. Like a new installation, create a new config DB.
3. Use the Restore a Portal option in the Create a Portal link in Central
Administration to re-attach your databases to your new farm
Does this help?

Bill, thank you for your response. I am using Windows SharePoint Server, not
SharePoint Portal Server, therefore I don not have the restore a portal
option. From the SharePoint Central Administration page, my Content Database
Server and Configuration Database are set up to the correct DBs.
Any more ideas?
Thank you!

Ugh. Post this to the WSS group then, not the portal group.
